Prices for vaginoplasty sent by a reader in June 2006:

Surgeon's Fees:
Dr. Alter: $15,000
Dr. Schiller: $1,500

Operating Room: $11,000
(including 6 nights in-patient)
Anesthesia:$2,500
Self Donated Blood: $1,000-$2,000 (two units)
Pathology: $250

A deposit of $7,500 is payable when the surgery date is chosen. The balance is due one month prior to surgery. A separate check is payable to Dr. Schiller. The hospital and anesthesia fees are due on the morning of surgery.

Dr. Alter's office confirms they will accept AETNA insurance for SRS and have done more than once in the past.  AETNA only offers plans to groups.  Pre-ops who own their own corporations of two or more may be able to switch their health insurance to AETNA.  Travis will add a "rider" to the plan that explains what specific surgeries, therapies, check-ups and medicines the insured will expect to have.  Travis says you are welcome to add this info to the Insurance page on TSRoadmap.
