TYFA/Ian Benson and the trans work discrimination hearing |
|
The historic Congressional Hearing on Transgender Discrimination in the Workplace last week was quite amazing, and I’m pleased to note a TYFA connection!
If you weren’t able to watch the first Congressional Hearing on transgender issues, “An Examination of Discrimination Against Trangender Americans in the Workplace,” as it happened live on Thursday, June 26, we have posted clips of the hearing on YouTube. You can find the clips on the NCTE page at http://www.youtube.com/user/NCTEquality.
We will keep sharing more information about the hearing with you as it becomes available. And, as always, you can read more about it on our blog and post comments with your reaction there: http://nctequality.blogspot.com/
John Otto notes:
I was at the hearing yesterday and took a photo of Sabrina Marcus Taraboletti (the former space shuttle engineer and one of the witnesses testifying) wearing a purple ribbon.
The ribbon symbolizes the Ian Benson Project, the youth suicide prevention arm of TransYouth Family Allies. Thanks to Sabrina for honoring Ian’s memory and helping raise awareness about both youth issues and employment issues!
Thanks especially to all the hard-working folks at National Center for Transgender Equality who made this event possible!
