Hormones for transgender youth

I have a page on hormones, but this page is about getting hormones and blockers as a minor. This can be a big help, so choose what is right for you.

Even if you do not think you can start hormones yet, you should think about taking a hormone blocker to make your puberty stop. This is one of the most important things you can do at your age. Try to find a way if you can.

What are hormones?

These drugs help your body develop to match your gender identity.

  • These drugs have been safely used for decades by transgender adults.
  • They are used for the same purpose in gender diverse youth.

How to get them

The easiest and safest option is coming out to a parent or guardian who will help. You may have to see a therapist as well as a doctor for a while before they let you take them.

I hope you will get hormones with help from loved ones and healthcare workers. You may have a hard time finding a healthcare worker who will help you without a parent or guardian who says it is OK.

If you do not think your parent or guardian will help you, there are other ways.
